The month of August in Portugal is devoted to Figs. Each day we harvest and dry up to 5 different varieties including some unique to our farm. With temperatures averaging 35+ most days conditions are perfect for both ripening and sun drying. These high temperatures mean our Sun Dried Figs cannot be classed as Raw like much of our other Slow Air Dried products, however this absorption of the sun’s rays does bring out added sweetness.
Our Figs are cholesterol free with lots of potassium, iron, mangnesium and calcium. They contain more soluble fiber than any other fruit. Soluble fiber has been shown to help control blood sugar and lower blood cholesterol by binding it to the digestive tract. With a sugar content of over 55% as well as Vitamins A, B1, B2 & C you can see why they have been the Dried Fruit of choice for so long.
Our Figs contain well under the 17% moisture content of most shop bought Figs, meaning they preserve for longer. We think they are perfect eaten as they are however, soaking for 30 minutes before use will make them plump up nicely. They can also be chopped and added to Muesli, Granola and Oat Bars.
These Sun Dried Figs come to you part vacuumed in quality food grade bags to ensure maximum freshness. All labels are printed on recycled card and all postage envelopes are made from recycled plastic.
This product is produced using no chemicals
